We were planning to just go on a nice relaxing walk in the tall grass and sunshine, but Blondie had other ideas. It makes sense, since she's been feeling so deprived and excluded (yes, Blondie's that rare horse who feels completely insulted and left out if she isn't ridden regularly. She'll never be able to retire haha), that she'd have some extra energy. So what we were hoping to be a calming ride turned out to be slightly funny, slightly unpredictable. Blondie was acting "loopy", as my mum said. Like she was all drugged up (which I guess she kind of was).
It was really funny how she'd spook at the most ridiculous objects and randomly break into trot when she felt like it. She also tripped on her own feet many more times than necessary out of sheer distractedness. Really, she was acting like a three year old, not a twenty-three year old. Rose was catching on and getting a little frisky as well.
I rode Rose in a caveson today (no bit) so she could take advantage of all the grass growing up so tall that it reaches my head while I'm sitting on Rose. My policy is that Rose can graze while we're riding, as long as it doesn't interfere with her moving forward. So basically if Rose wanted to halt and graze, she can't do that. But she's getting very smooth with just grabbing mouthfuls while walking forward.
A nice long walk/trot in the sunshine to liven the girl's moods. Now I'm off to my Zumba class!! I've also started doing Yoga in the hopes that it will make me a little more balanced and flexible in the saddle.
