I've been at University and it's been a crazy couple of months because of that. The horses were put on the back burner as I was only able to ride on the weekends. This past weekend I went back home and had a really lovely trail ride that got me remembering why I love the horses, the barn, the people, everything that has to do with this little world of mine that I can only access through the horses. I forgot how much I enjoyed the peace, the challenge, the natural beauty, the partnership, the friendships, the simplicity. My ride this weekend reminded me of all that.
Rose has been mentally "sitting". She and I haven't embarked on any new trainings or journeys since I started university, and even though I know this could not have been helped, I still fell bad about it. Maybe the break in her training and riding would have happened anyway, as the weather got worse and the ground was too frozen to ride. But now that it is the new year and the days are getting longer, I really want to see, ride, and work with her more.
After this term of University ends in April, I will be transferring to a different university in order to live closer to my family and animals that I miss so much. I'm so excited about this, as I know this means I will be able to see Rose every day and can finally work on some of the things I've been wanting to for so long.
Anyways, here's a video from my trail ride with Sofia on Sunday. It was such a lovely day and the horses were so eager to explore, I can't wait to do it again next weekend.
