On the trailer ride over, Blondie seemed to be scrambling around in the trailer a lot and just generally not having very good balance. We noticed this last time we took them out in the trailer (last Sunday, to the southlands riding club) and when we unloaded her that time, she had a little cut on her rear coronet band, presumably from stepping on herself while scrambling in the trailer. We figured it was just because she's elderly and doesn't have very good balance. So today, my mum made sure to drive very slowly, especially around the turns. But when we pulled into the park and unloaded her, she had again nicked both of her hind feet from stepping on herself. She also had a little cut on her hip from I guess banging into the partition. So we were feeling pretty bad that she injured herself again, and that we couldn't figure out what to do about it. On the ride there, she had boots on all four legs plus bell boots on her front feet. But obviously that didn't help her from stepping on her back feet.
Anyways, other than that she seemed fine, not frazzled, so we tacked up and started our ride.
We rode all around the perimeter of the park, walking and trotting. We switched up who was leading a few times as well. Rose was cautious but brave, and handled strollers and little kids well. We also came across a lot of other riders and their horses enjoying the beautiful sunday morning.
We had a lovely ride on a lovely day and I'm so thankful and grateful to my dear mother for making this a reality that we can share together <3
